About The Project

The Sport Equity & Justice Project at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law advances equity, inclusion, and athlete well-being within the sports ecosystem. It adopts future-oriented and innovative approaches to examining how law, policy, and technology shape sport governance and regulation, with a focus on identifying and addressing systemic barriers that affect athletes and sporting communities.

Through this work, the initiative engages with issues of racial justice, disability inclusion, and the lived realities of athletes navigating intersecting forms of marginalization. These efforts align with broader commitments to access to justice and systemic reform within sport and legal institutions.

The Project is led by Sheetal Maya Nanda, a practicing lawyer and adjunct faculty member at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and is supported by law students who contribute to research, programming, and experiential initiatives under her supervision. The Beyond the Arc competition is proudly organized by a team of law students passionate about sports law and equity in athletics.
